Biography Part 7

After graduation, I moved to Edmonton which is the capital of Alberta. It is in the northern part and a long way from home. My sister lived there so at least I wasn’t alone. My two brothers and sister all went to university and became school teachers. I never went because I always had a struggle in school and never believed in myself. All my life I had always wanted to write, always had a dream of becoming an author, but again . . . thought I wasn’t good enough. Instead, I married the man of my dreams Jerome (tall, dark and handsome) and moved to Slave Lake, which is in the far northern part of Alberta. After four years of marriage, we had one son, Gerry and when my son was three weeks old, his father, Jerome, died suddenly in a car accident, April 24, 1979. It was one of the biggest tragedies in my life and the hardest thing I ever had to go through. Gerry and I then moved back home to Cardston.

Four years later, I met and married Peter. We lived in Calgary Alberta for twelve years where I went back to school and earned my accounting and business management degree. During that time I had two more children. Jennifer came first then Donald. They are one year apart except for one day when they’re the same age. Gerry was extremely excited about having a new sister and brother and he loved them so much. My children became my life.
